Earthquakes....

Well, some people seemed to be surprised because of the recent earthquake activity in our part of the state. REALLY??!!

I just want to say that our world is not going to end due to a 5.3 earth quake..Yep it is a little scary but not time to panic..

I just don't know about some people..

Back to School

Yesterday was back to school for my kids. John had a good first day as a Junior in high school. My goodness it is hard to believe that much time has gone by. He is growing up so much! He even set up most of his own classes and gave himself a study hour with out me even having to remind him. He is also an office aide!!

Allison on the other hand did not have a good first day.She is a sophmore! She had flunked some classes last year ( goofy off mainly) and so she can't play volleyball and to top it off her boyfriend of 8 months is leaving this Saturday for his first year of college. Some of the teachers really gave her a hard time about it, stating that all he is going to do is cheat on her and leave her and so on..She came home in tears and it was a fight to get her to go to school this morning..I just had a talk with her boyfriends mother and we had a good visit. She is planning on telling the teachers to mind their own business and not worry about Allison and her son, but if they have to have a comment, at least let it be a supportive one. Pray for Allison, she is really struggling this year. She and this boy have been together for 8 months now, and the long distance is going to be rough on both of them. Pray for his mom too, she is a little teary eyed!!

Traci is in the 8th grade this year! She is playing varisty volleyball and she had a great day yesterday. She is the only girl in junior high school..WOW!! I am sure this year will be different for her, as she has grown up a lot over the summer!

Christina and Raelene are hanging out at home. Rae is my right hand. She does all the cooking, cleaning and laundry and of course keeps Tina while I am at work.

We are all doing well. It has been a hot and dry summer here in New Mexico, we need some moisture!!

Love to all,

Joanna

Track Fire

This was last week during the Track Fire in Raton..Burned 27,000 acres!

T.G.I.F

TGIF..

I am so thankful it is finally Friday.

Traci has a yard sale tomorrow to raise money for her FCCLA trip..I am afraid we are still a distance from her goal, but have faith that we might reach it. She leaves July 8th for California!!!

It has been a long week here in Maxwell. Seems each time you clear one hurdle, two more pop up to take it's place.

We had unbelievably hot temps here in New Mexico. I heard today that New Mexico is ranked number one in drought conditions, I believe that they are right! It is soo very dry here. The village has had to issue Firework bans and so have some area's close by. We really need some rain and lots of it.

My little sister is getting married next month. I ask for prayers. I will not go into detail, I just will leave it at that.

Next Friday we head to Santa Fe, as Christina has a little bead or earring back in her ear and that is the closest ENT doctor around. Should make for a long day, as we have to be in Santa Fe (150 miles away) by 8:30 in the morning!!

Okay, it is almost my lunch time and I need to go help the girls with the SOY lunch program..

I will pop back in later on...........

Chinese Chicken Salad

Cabbage 1 head shredded

Green onions 6 sliced

Put above ingredients in large bowl.

¼ c. butter melted in frying pan

Sliced almonds ¼ small pkg.

Sesame seeds ½ c. or substitute sunflower seeds

Chicken Top Ramen 1 pkg. crushed with the seasoning

In frying pan brown the above ingredients slightly. Allow to cool, then keep separate until ready to serve.

Dressing:

½ c. vegetable oil, 1 Tblsp. Soy sauce, ¼ c. white vinegar, 1/3 c. sugar (may add sesame seed oil about 1 Tblsp.)

Mix dressing in separate container until ready to serve salad.

When ready to serve mix fried ingredients and dressing with cabbage. If you are not going to use entire salad, may spoon small portions and keep ingredients fresh for several days.

Enjoy! I received this salad from a friend almost twenty years ago and we’ve enjoyed it ever since.

I believe that I need this account to maybe help me share and stay in touch with friends and family..
I am going to try to get on here once a week at least and update each of you about our family life. I might even add some recipes and share some prayer needs..
Watch and you shall see..

Back to Blogging

Thought that it was time to return to blogging. I realize I seldom have any me time and maybe this will help me relax and stay in touch and sort of give me a place to vent, cry, laugh and of course talk about the children.

Christina turns 4 tomorrow! Mercy where has the time gone too? We will have a family party for her tomorrow at my dad's house and will let her come home here to open her presents..

Allison made State in Xcountry. She will run at Rio Rancho high next Saturday, she will begin basketball practice I believe shortly after that..

John finished Xcountry as well, although he did not place, we are still proud of him for going out for this event. He is thinking of going out for basketball as well.

Traci is doing good and joined FCCLA this year and is active in that. She is in junior high this year.

Raelene helping out at home trying to decide what to do next. She has been a blessing, as she baby sits, and does the house work, so I am not complaining too much.

Frank and I stay busy and on the go..ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!
